Recovery Effort Praised – The head of INTERPOL has praised police authorities in Germany and Ukraine for their “exemplary international collaboration” in a recent operation in which a stolen Caravaggio painting was recovered and an alleged international art theft gang broken up. The painting, known as the “Taking of Christ” or the “Kiss of Judas” and reportedly worth tens of millions of Euros, is considered a national treasure in Ukraine. It was stolen two years ago from the Museum of Western European and Oriental Art in Odessa.

A tattoo... hmm... Ever thought about getting one? Afraid of the pain and the needles? What about sanitation? Pretty scary, huh?

If this is how you feel, then you are not alone. Many others probably feel this way too. Fear no more! ARTOOL’S TEMPORARY TATTOOS and AIRBRUSH BODY ART is now available!

Here is your chance to have the look of real tattoos without the worries. The same products used in Hollywood for over 15 years are now available to you. These are not the slimy water-slide decals you have seen on candy wrappers and in the back of comic books, which crack after only a few hours. As you will see here, these new tattoos actually look real!

There are two different types of Body-Of-Art products, with the major difference between them being the equipment used in the process.

ARTOOL Body-of-Art Paint-On Temporary Tattoos

ARTOOL Temporary Tattoos have the authenticity of a real tattoo; these are transferred to the skin with alcohol and hand painted; there is no additional equipment needed to apply temporary tattoos.

THE BASICS OF APPLICATION:

1.    The first step is to choose the design and colors to be used. This is sometimes the hardest part of the tattoo! Choose a transfer and colors that match the client’s tastes and personality. The colors can be faded into each other, so don’t worry if the client chooses several colors.

B021.jpg (2019 bytes) 2.    Next,  you need to clean the skin with 70% isopropyl alcohol. You can use a dampened cotton pad or an alcohol prep pad. Make sure you cleanse thoroughly; if there are traces of oil left the tattoo will not wear as long.
B022.jpg (2239 bytes) 3.    While the skin is still damp with alcohol, apply the transfer  with the ink towards the body, pressing firmly.
B024.jpg (2122 bytes) Using the alcohol pad press the ink onto the skin, then pat it with your fingers.
B025.jpg (2219 bytes) Alternate dabbing the pad and patting with fingers until a small amount of blue has transferred to the alcohol pad.
B027.jpg (2175 bytes) This part of the process is now complete, go ahead and remove the transfer sheet while it is still damp. Apply a small amount of setting powder.
B029.jpg (2061 bytes) 4.    Now you are ready to color in your design. You can paint over your transfer using the range of colors. The colors need to be shaken well. If the transfer isn’t perfectly solid it can be touched up with black. Blue can be painted over it also; this makes the tattoo look even more authentic by giving the ink a blue-black appearance like a real tattoo.
C001.jpg (2155 bytes) When applying color, dip only the bristles of the brush into the paint, you’ll only need a little paint, and it will be wasted if it dries on the neck of the brush.
C002.jpg (2227 bytes) Paint colors directly over the design outline; it won’t be affected by the presence of the other more transparent colors. Between colors, clean the brush by wiping it using the cotton pad you used to apply the transfer. Make sure you have removed all of the excess paint before starting a new color. Apply multiple coats of color to make them more vibrant.
C003.jpg (2340 bytes) 5.    Finish with ARTOOL BODY OF ART setting powder. The powder will set the color and remove the shine and give it that authentic tattoo look you want!
C004.jpg (2298 bytes)
C005.jpg (1696 bytes) 6.    The finished design looks great and is not permanent! It can last from 3 to 5 days and can easily be removed with 70% isopropyl alcohol!

AIRBRUSHED BODY ART

ARTOOL Airbrush Body Art is fantasy artwork, applied to the body with an airbrush using stencils and color blending. Airbrush Fantasy Body Art is fun, fast, and easy to remove and airbrushes clean up easy with alcohol.

Before getting started…

When choosing an airbrush for your body art, there are several items to think about.

What is the airbrush constructed of? Consider the material it is made of; make sure it is a high quality material that will last a long time. Do your homework on this! Why invest the money if it will need to replaced next year? Does the airbrush have a warranty? If the company doesn’t stand behind its product, why should you? Most importantly, is the airbrush recommended for use with body art paint? We recommend the Iwata Eclipse C airbrush for use with ARTOOL BODY-OF-ART colors.

If you already own an airbrush system, there is no need to purchase any new equipment other than the airbrush and correct air hose. Compressors are universal and most hoses will fit most compressors. However most air hoses fit only that manufacturers brand of airbrush (Iwata air hoses fit only Iwata airbrushes), so be sure to purchase the hose at the same time you purchase the airbrush. Once you have the equipment there is nothing left to do but have fun with it!

THE APPLICATION BASICS: WARNING – When working on the skin it is recommended that Body-Art Colors should only be airbrushed at 20 p.s.i. or less.

1.    You first want to select the ARTOOL Body-of-Art colors and stencils. With all the different designs out there this will be your biggest challenge. Consider the size of design wanted and which colors are needed to complete that design. Lay all of these out before you start.
A018.jpg (2196 bytes)2.    Next cleanse the area to be painted with 70% Isopropyl alcohol. After the skin has dried, apply the self-adhesive stencil to the skin.
A020.jpg (2283 bytes)3.    NOTE: To remove the backing from the self-adhesive stencil, bend a corner of the stencil to release the backing.
A021.jpg (2482 bytes)
4.    Now get ready to airbrush. When airbrushing ARTOOL Body-of-Art colors be sure that your compressor is set to operate at no more than 20 p.s.i. Airbrush the color by using light misting strokes gradually building up the color in the process. Airbrushing the color on too quickly may cause the colors to run and in some cases bleed underneath the stencil.
5.    Spray a base coat over the stencil. Using white as a base will make the additional colors appear brighter and more vibrant.
A022.jpg (2198 bytes)6.    Next, spray from the lightest color to the darkest. Lightly overlapping the colors produces a beautiful color fade.
B001.jpg (2312 bytes)Changing the color is easy; just use Medea Airbrush Cleaner to spray out any remaining paint in the gun. Using the lightest color first makes your airbrush easier to clean. Never mix water with alcohol based paint. Water will coagulate with the paints and they will become gummy.
B004.jpg (2280 bytes)7.    Now finish with a light coat of Artool Setting Powder.
B006.jpg (2223 bytes)
B008.jpg (1564 bytes)8.    The finished design looks great and is not permanent! It can last from 3 to 5 days and can easily be removed with 70% isopropyl alcohol.

CARE FOR ARTOOL BODY-OF-ART

Tattoos and Airbrushed Body Art are easily removable with 70% Isopropyl alcohol. Artool Setting Powder is the key to making your Body Art last. The skin naturally produces oil, which effects how long the tattoo will last. Artool Setting Powder absorbs oils and perspiration makes the tattoo last longer. Powder should be applied in the morning and before bed; it should also be applied before and after showering. The more powder applied the better! POWDER, POWDER, and POWDER! You need to avoid contact with any oil or lotion on or near the area of the tattoo. Shampoo and conditioner have oils in them. When washing hair, it’s important to rinse away from the painted area so the shampoo doesn’t cascade over the design. Remember any amount of oil will weaken the tattoo.
